Seeking help can be an intimidating process...
We'll try to make it as comfortable as possible as you look for the help you need. |
We understand it's a little bit awkward coming to talk to a stranger about your difficulties in life. Sometimes it takes a little while, but most people find our warm, understanding, and non-judgemental approach helps them feel at ease in talking and working through their challenges.
Studies show, and our experience confirms it, that finding a therapist that's a good fit is a crucial part of growth and healing. We hope you'll take the opportunity to ask any questions you have about us, and get a sense of whether or not we're the right people for helping you. At your first meeting we'll have you fill out some paperwork and then we'll talk for close to an hour. It's your time to tell us about what you're looking for and see if we're a good fit for you. We'll ask lots of questions about what you're struggling with, your history, your goals, and what you need in a therapist. If we don't think we can help you, or know someone who would be better to help you, we'll tell you right away. First meetings don't carry obligation with them. If you want to look around afterward and try a different psychologist or therapist you are fully welcome to do so.
