Dr. Joan Clayton is from Montreal, Quebec. She received her B.A. in Honors Psychology from Concordia University and moved to London, Ontario to complete her Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Dr. Clayton specialized in Human Sexuality throughout her training at the University of Western Ontario and has been a sex educator and consultant for 30 years. She has taught the Human Sexuality Course at Western and now guest lectures in this class as well as in the Thanatology Program at Kings’s College.
Dr. Clayton has been in Private Practice for 33 years. She is an expert in trauma debriefing and sexuality and coordinates the Employee Assistance Counselling (EAP) for several local agencies. She offers both Long Term Intensive Psychodynamic Psychotherapy as well as Brief Problem Focused Counselling.
Dr. Clayton believes strongly in the Mind Body Spirit connection and takes a Wholistic Approach to Healing, Health and Well Being. She teaches Tai Chi and Meditation at the YMCA and offers Mindfulness Based Stress Counselling within this practice.
