Are you accepting new patients?
Generally Yes. Typically new patients can be seen for an initial intake appointment within 2 to 3 weeks.
After an initial appointment, we will decide together if there is a good fit and services are appropriate.
Do I need a referral from a physician before I can make an appointment?
No referral is necessary, although occasionally some insurance companies require a referral note from a family physician before they will reimburse you for treatment fees.
How do I make an appointment?
When you are ready, contact me by phone at 519-630-8073.
Can I send you some questions by email first?
Unfortunately I don't arrange for clinical services by email, for two reasons:
First, it is not necessarily a safe or confidential way to communicate since the internet has lots of security issues. Second, I can answer all of your questions quite quickly on the phone and in person, and we'll get chance to see if we're a good fit for each other.
Can I book an appointment for my spouse, partner, parent, friend....
No. I can appreciate that you care about what others are going through, and although they may be reluctant to speak with me, I need them to take a step of commitment and talk to me themselves.
What if I make and appointment but need to cancel?
When you make an appointment I reserve that time spot for you, and if you don't come, others miss out on an opportunity for services. Unless there is some extreme circumstance (terrible driving conditions, sudden illness, etc) I require 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. Missed appointments without notice will be charged a $70 cancellation fee.
Do you see children or do family therapy?
No. This is not an area in which I am qualified to practice. I only see individuals over the age of 18.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As a psychologist my methods of treatment do not include prescription medication. I am willing to coordinate and speak with psychiatrists or family physicians.
